Research

The brain of 57 people undergoing hypnosis was scanned with FMRI. They found changes in the areas of the brain that allowed for greater emotional control and reduced feelings of self-consciousness.

In a study of 42 young adults with high levels of stress, half received 8 weekly hypnotherapy sessions with suggestions for improved mindfulness. They also got a self-hypnosis audio recording with a hypnotic induction and mindfulness suggestions. The group that received the intervention had significantly less stress, and increased mindfulness.
